Many homes in Texas have stucco as an exterior finish. The stucco is strong and durable but will need maintenance over time. If stucco is not protected, it will develop cracks, bubbles, and discoloration. If the stucco is protected and maintained, it will last at least 50 years. Stucco is a slightly more complicated coating system compared to stone and brick. It consists of an embedded metal base mixture of cement, sand, and water. The cracks in the stucco and fissures must be sealed and repaired to prevent the passage of water to the wire mesh because it will cause corrosion and will weaken the stucco mixture.
